Pinhole Gallery: Localized Recession

Localized recession is typically caused by one of the following:

  • Toothbrushing: Excessive, aggressive, wrong brush type, improper technique

  • Localized Periodontal Disease:  lack of proper oral hygiene in a specific site

  • Foreign causes

    • Piercings

    • Chewing Tobacco

  • Occlusal Trauma:  bite imbalances leading to excessive force on particular teeth causing bone and gingival destruction.  In many cases we find that the tooth is misaligned within the bone.

Pinhole Surgical Technique offers a quick (~30 minutes), practically painless solution for these localized problem sites.  As you can see in the below gallery, highly predictable results are achieved without sutures, tissue donor sites, and lengthy recovery times.

Pinhole Gallery: Generalized Recession

Generalized recession is typically caused by one of the following:

  • Toothbrushing: Severe overzealous brushing or using a stiff bristled toothbrush

  • Generalized Periodontal Disease

    • Genetic Predisposition

    • Inadequate Preventive Dental Care

    • Poor Oral Hygiene

    • Hormone Imbalances

  • Occlusal Trauma:  bite imbalances leading to excessive force on the entire dentition causing bone and gingival destruction.

In cases of Generalized Recession, this is where Pinhole Surgical Technique(™) provides tremendous advantages.  The supporting gingival tissue of the entire mouth is "reset."  In most generalized cases, there exhibits a severe loss of keratinized (supporting) tissues, with only a minimal collar of gum tissue, or none at all, remaining throughout the mouth.  By simply un-attaching, repositioning, and implanting collagen to strengthen and support the tissue, Pinhole Surgical Technique(™) creates substantial keratinized tissue, and immediate results in a 2 hour appointment.

Longevity of Pinhole Surgical Technique

The cases below are "stock" images from Dr John Chao, the inventor of Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation.  Dr Chao began treating the below patients with this technique in 2007, and the pictures below are to show the longevity of this procedure.  No matter what type of corrective procedure is done, the tissue behaves in the same way and becomes much stronger than it existed prior to correction.  As long as the etiology of the problem is addressed, this is a permanent solution to gum recession problems.
